The competition is run by Co-operation Ireland in partnership with the All-Island Local Authority Steering forum. The competition, in its ninth year running, recognises and celebrates the vital contributions that community partnerships make to society. Each of the nominees demonstrated what can be achieved when people work together to improve the area for the betterment of the whole community.

A Judging panel visited the centre in July and met with many of the local groups and individuals who use the centre. After their visit, the Chairman of the awards wrote to the Centre.

‘I wish to thank you on behalf on Alison and I for an excellent visit to your top class centre. I also appreciate the marvellous presentation brochure you prepared. The meetings with all the groups who avail of your centre were all inspiring. Your own positivity, commitment and innovative approach to the current running of the centre and future plans offer great future hope to this magnificent centre. The centre is no doubt the pride of the "Glen" and we wish you continued success.'

The winners were announced at a gala ceremony in November 2011. The Glen Resource Centre did not win, but were proud to represent Cork in this All-Island competition.
