ABOUT US
The centre employs a full-time professional manager to oversee the operation, which is run by a total of 22 part-time, community employment staff funded by FAS. The Centre also directly employs a full-time Community Sports Development Officer and 16 part-time sports and adventure instructors.
FAS Community Employment provides unemployed and other disadvantaged persons with an opportunity to engage in useful work within their communities on a temporary basis. It helps long-term unemployed people re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment, through a return to routine and to assist them to embrace/develop both their technical and personal skills. FAS also assist and fund the facilitation of development and training for employees.
The aims of the Centre are to:
* Encourage the participation of the local people in community,
recreation and enterprise activities.
* Create a space for youth activity.
* Support adult and community learning.
* Provide and make available services and supports from the centre
for local residents.
* Provide a social focal point for the community.
